Bonfire Night and Fireworks Events in Manchester 2026

Last Updated on 10 September 2026 by Colette

[I am constantly updating this post with information about Manchester bonfire night and fireworks events in 2026 as news becomes available so be sure to keep checking back!]

I hold my hands up to not being a massive fan of Halloween, Bonfire night is my autumn celebration and always has been. I have fond childhood memories of being bundled up in two pairs of trousers and leg warmers, holding sparklers in mitten clad hands at the village bonfire.

I’ve always loved fireworks though I’m absolutely terrified of them and could never light one myself – those firework safety lessons did a number on me that’s for sure so I’m always keen to go to an organised fireworks display rather than have them in my own back garden (though we did this once or twice when the kids were smaller and bonfire night events were too late, too loud and too dark for them to really enjoy it!)

The best bonfire night celebrations in Manchester - 2026

Manchester City Council has officially confirmed that its council-organised firework displays will return in 2026 after being paused since 2019. The individual parks and dates haven’t yet been officially announced but the return to organised bonfire night and fireworks displays is welcome!

Rochdale have confirmed three organised fireworks displays across the area this year, Salford Council will host two free organised fireworks events this year. Oldham Council have yet to confirm if they will host their annual “Big Bang”.

I’ll keep this post updated with details of the best bonfires in Manchester and where to see fireworks safely (drop me an email if you know of any events I’ve missed) but please do double check before setting off out for the evening (especially as the weather can often impact these types of outdoor events).

Of course the very best bonfire night and fireworks events sell out well in advance so it is worth planning ahead and booking your tickets sooner rather than later!

Please note that, to the best of my knowledge, all information is correct at time of publishing but do check directly with individual venues to confirm!

    • Hi Chris,

I honestly don’t know – I would suggest the free council events will be the biggest ones but many of these are still not announced this year.

  4. Google says Prince’s Park, Salford is
    PERMANENTLY CLOSED

So I doubt they are holding bonfire celebrations anymore.

    • This is an error. The bonfire is clearly listed on the Salford Council website – this isn’t an old listing as I have had contact with Salford Council to check their plans ahead of it being announced.
